“What do we do with yard debris after the storm?”
In Marshall County, we have the following options.
If you are in a municipality, check with your street department to see how they are handling clean-up–most towns have yard waste pick-up.
If you are outside city limits, the county will not pick up your debris. It is possible to haul some of your smaller debris to nearby landfills (County Line Landfill 574-223-9610; Prairie View Landfill 574-546-4475). Large debris such as trees and large branches are not accepted at landfills. A local tree removal service is your best bet for large debris.
Burning brush is acceptable outside city limits. Consider other options, such as chipping up material to use as mulch. Even burning “clean” brush is a nuisance and a health hazard.
We do not accept yard waste at the Recycle Depot. However, we do have compost bins and expertise should you decide to compost your yard waste! 🙂
