When Kondo works with her clients, she has them take one type of item—for instance, articles of clothing—and put them all in a pile. The visual impact of a mountain of old clothes is stunning. Some clients weep with shame. Their transformation usually begins at that moment—the moment of seeing.
Clean and Dry: New Standards for Recycled Materials
After years of throwing all our recyclables in one bin (it’s called “co-mingling” in the jargon), we now must be more careful about what we toss. By throwing non-recyclable stuff in our bins, we run the risk of contaminating our loads. The new restrictions place more pressure on waste haulers to landfill those loads.

Our services include:
- Fun classroom presentations for kids grades K-12 that correspondence with State standards
- Classes here at the Depot or in the community on topics such as composting, the 3 R’s, reducing household hazardous waste, and conserving natural resources
- Talks for civic or community groups on topics related to our mission
- A lending library of books and DVDs, including some of the latest documentaries
- On-site tours of the Recycle Depot

- We do not haul or dispose of residential or commercial trash.
- Some fees apply to tire and e-waste drop-off.
