Before You Visit

Note that we do not accept the following:

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED
 Materials from a business (this includes farms, landlords, contractors, commercial, retail, etc.); commercial or industrial materialsWe serve residential households only. If your company generates less than 200 lbs of hazardous waste a month, call us for options.

Materials from outside Marshall County

 

Contact your county’s solid waste district.
Non-hazardous solids or solid items marked nontoxic.Grout, cement, drywall mud are not hazardous. Put in regular trash.
Anything explosive or radioactive.Contact the police or fire department for disposal. Fireworks can be soaked overnight and discarded in regular trash.
Medical sharps or syringesTake them to the Marshall County Health Dept. in a medical waste container.

Non-propane cylinders (oxygen or welding gas)

 

Return to place of purchase or use up entire container and scrap.
Fake Christmas trees or other large seasonal decoration made of plastic or metalPlace in trash or take to landfill.
Housewares such as mattresses, box springs, furniture, home or garden décor, cabinets or countertops, flooringDepending on condition, donate to local charity or take to landfill.
Metal household items, including lawn furniture, exercise equipment, playground equipmentTake to a local scrapyard such as Lapaz Iron & Metal, Rochester Iron & Metal, Lewis Salvage.
Gas-powered lawn equipmentTake to a local scrapyard such as Lapaz Iron & Metal, Rochester Iron & Metal, Lewis Salvage.
Gas grillsTake to a local scrapyard such as Lapaz Iron & Metal, Rochester Iron & Metal, Lewis Salvage.
Building materials, lumber, wood, cement blockDonate to Habitat Restore

Grass clippings or yard waste

 

In town—call Street Department for pickup. In county, compost or burn.
Sump pumps, water softeners, water heatersTake to a local scrapyard such as Lapaz Iron & Metal, Rochester Iron & Metal, Lewis Salvage.
Large plastic items such as plastic totes, swimming pools, play houses, garden hosesNot recyclable: cut up and put in trash or take to landfill
Hardback booksDepending on condition: donate to charity; remove the cover and recycle; if musty, throw away in regular trash.
Old media such as LPs, VHS, CDs, cassettes, photographs/photo albumsNot recyclable. Throw away in regular trash.

  • We do not haul or dispose of residential or commercial trash. 
  • Some fees apply to tire and e-waste drop-off. 
  • Please see our list of unacceptable items. 
  • If you are a business, please be advised we only work with Very Small Quantity Generators. Before you load up your vehicle, please use the link above to schedule your visit in advance before you bring us your materials. Thank you!
